About Me

Hello! I am a  Spring '25 graduate of the University of Arizona with a Bachelor's of Arts in Journalism with a minor in Government and Public Policy.  I am currently based in Las Vegas and my reporting ranges from city council meetings to environmental equity to breaking news coverage.

How I Work

I have reporting experience in both in-person newsroom settings and online web-based newsrooms. I specialize in community and public affairs journalism and digital communications. I thrive in collaborative fast-paced newsrooms writing quick-turn pieces as well as longer-form investigative enterprise pieces.

My Ethos

I write to take large issues and break them down into clear, accessible stories so communities can better understand what's happening around them politically, economically, educationally, and beyond. I love to write and I want my writing to meet audiences where they're at and provide them with the news and context they need for their day-to-day lives.

The state previously had a bottom-up system, where each...

Garcia runs the Instagram account Barrio Restoration. Through before-and-after pictures, group photos with volunteers, videos and flyers encouraging community members to come out and do their part — his page creates a green feed of community engagement.

Nevada communities working to curb light pollution

Las Vegas is a city that never sleeps, and neither do its glittering lights.

It’s home to the brightest light beam in the world atop the Luxor, and now, the biggest and brightest sphere on the planet.

The Sphere gave a preview to locals of what the sphere can do on the Fourth of July, showing off its bright lights with displays of fireworks, the flag, the moon and even an eyeball.

But the hype surrounding the newest addition to the Las Vegas skyline is bringing a smaller known issue to the forefront of people’s minds: light pollution.
